Bring in a water sample to get your drinking water tested for nitrates for free! Stop by the Isanti SWCD office anytime during the week of April 7th - 11th, 8:00am - 4:00pm daily.

To take the sample, run cold tap water for 5 minutes, then collect at least one cup in a clean container. Collect the sample within 24 hours of testing and keep it cool.

Nitrates in drinking water pose a serious health risk, especially for infants and pregnant women. High nitrate levels can interfere with the blood’s ability to carry oxygen, and long-term exposure has been linked to certain cancers and thyroid conditions. You cannot taste, smell, or see nitrate in water.

There are multiple other participating locations throughout the Rum River Watershed Partnership, the same week, including Benton SWCD, Mille Lacs SWCD, and Sherburne SWCD. You can attend any participating location.
