🌳+ 🐐= Silvopasture
Could your woods use a few goats?
Come to this free, outdoor workshop to learn how Washington County Parks is using goats to control invasive species such as buckthorn and garlic mustard.
Silvopasture is a strategy that combines grazing livestock and trees on the same land. Cows, goats, chickens and other animals can all be raised among trees to improve soil health, diversify farm products, manage invasive species, and achieve a variety of other benefits.
The July 30 Silvopasture Workshop will be held at Lake Elmo Park Reserve, North Pavilion, 9 a.m.-noon. The workshop is offered by the Sustainable Farming Association.
Presenters: Keefe Keeley (Savanna Institute), Callie Bertsch (NRCS State Forester), Dan MacSwain (Washington County Parks). Goat grazing for buckthorn and garlic mustard control will be discussed and viewed. Free.
